The Consumer Confidence Index came in today at it's lowest point since Trump closed the country down due to his inept ham handed approach to that pandemic, much like he is with our current pandemic, the bird flu...fun fact in Doge's 100% shotgun blast from the hip approach to "reducing fraud, waste corruption yada yada" they fired the bird flu people...so Trump's big plan to lower egg prices is to try and rehire the bird flu guys.........

Oh yeah, what's consumer confidence? That's things like home sales slowing down, auto sales slowing down, two of the leading prime indicators of the average persons confidence in doing capitalism stuff.

I have not checked, but I expect that I am down $150-200K today.
Could get even worse Lex @The Prowler

I just made a $30,000 contribution to the RRSP today Lex before the tax deadline.

But all Cash.

I admit Im scared shitless with it going down lately. It's a scary time to be in the markets

Like to see a bottom in the markets before throwing any money at it. I suppose it's like letting the ground dry before pouring in the cement foundations.

Warren Buffett says the best time to invest is after the market crashes eh Lex?

At your age!?!?!?!?!

You should be withdrawing, not contributing!!!!!!!

Whatever. I am not concerned. The real threat might be USA invading Canada.

You have no idea where the bottom is.

Warren Buffett says the best time to invest is after the market crashes eh Lex?

Well, sitting on your money for years waiting for that to happen is not good.

Maybe it wasn't the best decision but I had some taxes ta pay so I thought might help. Not sure tho

I was gonna contribute $50,000 more to the TFSA. But again...all cash. Maybe just gic's/money market for the foreseeable future. outlook doesn't look great right now @The Prowler
You have no idea where the bottom is.

Well where & when do you think the bottom is Lex @The Prowler?

I think the markets will continue to slide at least 20-30% this year & possibly more in early 2026 before bottoming out.

Some stock analysts think 2026 won't be good for stocks either.

Adam Taggart, go look him up. In 2024 he said the outlook for 2025 was grim. Another, Michael Markowski on 2022 said 2025 would also be a crash because the Fed wouldn't be able to prop it up any longer

2 Canadians make the list. Michael Rosenberg & Dr James Thorne. Those 2 are highly regarded & have good forecast records.

Alisdair MacLeod is good in metals. He predicted the steep rise in Gold back in 2023 just before it took off recently

Anyway I just follow who I think are providing accurate information regardless of their political slant.

Even tho I'm more left wing I still watch Fox News occasionally- Stuart Varney

I'm just after facts.

Commodities are usually the place where investment dollars head during bad times because they re investing in industries that will hopefully create the next bubble/boom

At your age you should not be worrying about this stuff.
