I am sorry to hear that.
.I had known a little through various sources of the Jacobites etc, then last summer a sib sent me Sir Walter Scott's Waverly - a very nice book to read. Of course it was given largely as an account through the lens of the Highlander's lives in those times, but at the same time in the context of a history developing and moving forward toward modern democracy. It was written in such a beautiful way that it gave legitimacy to all the people involved, their place and culture w/o admonishments for them fighting for a cause - on any side. No wrong. Only progress and human society leaving the past and entering the future through a small sliver called the present.
Still, your post inspires some sadness.
