Not sure what "broads that look like doods" has to do with fishing, but the thread title got buried quickly. I'm in New Hampshire and curious what kind of fishing people mean here — freshwater lakes and rivers, or saltwater trips? I don't have much experience myself, so I'd rather hear how folks got started and what they'd recommend for a beginner learning locally. The conversation drifted off the original question pretty fast, so it'd be good to bring it back to the actual fishing talk.

Fishing is a good way to slow down and pay attention to something simple. I'm in Boston, so I mostly think about harbor and pier spots rather than the quiet lake kind. The part I like is that there's always something new to learn — knots, tides, which lure actually works. What kind of fishing do you usually do?
