Are there any better alternatives to Facebook?

...does anyone know of any?

And not owned by them either.

ie - Instagram is essentially Facebook, because it's still owned by them.

...not interested in Twitter either since it's essentially spyware.

Can you tell me of a better alternative to them?
I'm not even talking about politics or being censored by them.
Which I never have been.

I'm just looking for something which is fucking functional.
I find it very difficult to deal with Facebook anymore as its Interface and usability is terrible.

When I first used it a decade ago, it was fine, but since then every 'improvement' has made the website or app even more cluttered.

....anyone?

I'm more of a user of that medium.

I don't really get caught up in personal message, expressing social or political views on it or divulging too much personal information.

If I see an upcoming event posted there I flag it. Bookmark a video I like.
That's about it.

I try to use it as a resource like a local library rather than broadcasting myself like Donald Trump

But I'm just searching for something which is more functional than Facebook

Instagram, although still owned by Facebook like you said, is good. I can spend a bit of time watching what I want to watch, and I don’t need to be inundated with religious posts, politics or cheap paraphernalia that I’ll never need.

Trying to get away from Facebook.

There seemed to be more alternatives once upon a time.

I remember mySpace.

Seemed to work fine, but people abandoned it.

Even tho my web programming skills are extremely limited, I think I could still design a better interface than Facebook. And it wouldn't even need a cellphone and web version.

Just one interface that could work on both equally as well.

Their PC website version is extremely cluttered and dysfunctional.

It would be easy to improve on that.

A 16 year old high school student could do better than all those 6 figured engineers at Facebook, who've essentially butchered the website made it unusable.

The interface stinks.
It's very dfficult to navigate through it easily.
I or just about anybody could do a better job of that part.

I wrote a story on Facebook once about Jesus being a bisexual, alcohol-swigging, drug-smoking rockstar. It didn’t go down too well, but on a positive note, I wasn’t God Blessed anymore!

Australians def have a different way of looking at the world.

I guess it's cuz they're down under and standing upside down where the rest of the world is standing right side up.

I had a terrific childhood. Truth be told… it was in response to family reposting religious quotes during a time when my mother was on her deathbed. I felt God had nothing to do with her insidious cancer or she would’ve allowed my mother to live.
