In 2023, China added 216.88 GW of new solar capacity—more than twice the total solar capacity of the United States. This unprecedented expansion brought China’s total installed solar power to 609.49 GW, solidifying its position as the world leader in solar energy.
To put this into perspective, China installed more solar power in one year than any country has in history. This rapid growth is backed by an investment of CNY 670 billion ($94.4 billion), driving the country toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
With continued advancements in solar technology and infrastructure, China is proving that large-scale renewable energy adoption is not just possible—it’s happening now.

If I'm reading this correctly (and I am), what we need to be doing is cheering for Trump to stop being a buffoon.
. That way, we will not be cheering for China, or upsetting the morons who were actually stupid enough to vote for the Orange Menace.

So you guys want us to emulate the Chinks and build massive solar farms that fuck up the local ecology just because it makes your Greta Thunburg little Green feelers feel all warm and tingly ... and TDS, of course.

OK. I'm all for sustainable energy. Where are the solar panels going to come from? China? f we're going to build our own solar panels, where are the rare earths going to come from to produce them? China again? Maybe Africa? Plenty of slave labor there. I know! Maybe that Ukraine deal will come through.

Oh, and China has more coal plants than we do.

Alternatively, we might come to the realization that a corporate media complex which is known to engage in lying in order to engineer public perception has been doing that for about a decade now with regard to Trump, and continues to do so today.

That's an interesting interpretation. Actually, if it only were...
Er, read the title of the thread again. How would you interpret the OP praising China for Green Spooging, while taking a childish swipe at Trump for suggesting we build coal fired power plants ... of which China has way more that we ever had.

Plus, we got lots of coal here.

Regg, maybe you are missing a fine point or two here.
While China's fossil fuel generated electricity gen is going down and they are moving toward low-carbon sources, Trump is indeed taking us back to the 1800's. Now, um, if you read your own post you'd have noticed it says this:

Now...um...given that, wouldn't it be a good idea to make trade facile rather than shutting it the tariff down and indeed sending us back to the smoke belching hell of 125 years ago?

I read it like I believe it was intended. Instead of embracing new technologies, we're going back to old sources of fuel. Polluting sources of fuel. The kind that kills coal miners. China is a competitor. It's at our own peril that we look back, imo.

Why is that a good thing?

Reggie is hoping we return to days when the US was an agrarian society and the iron horse and them smoke stack factories were not darkening the skies.

We've already wasted hundreds of billions of tax dollar subsidies in Green Boondoggles. Were you not paying any attention to the $22 Billion dollars in Green Energy Grifts that Lee Zeldin revealed at the EPA?

I am all for developing alternative power technologies. If private industry can develop and market such tech and make it profitable, I'm good with that.

Just no tax dollars.

Tax dollars are used to jump start many good things for this country, including the internet you're using to whine about tax dollars, fuckhead.

What difference does it make who is doing what action you simple minded twat?
I am comparing policy direction. Is policy trying to move society forward towards that more perfect union? or is it stubbornly clinging to the Cuyahoga River Fire?

IOW: "Fuck results, I'm all about stated intentions! Even if -- no, especially if! -- those stated intentions are lies!"
