She is no stranger to American politics, especially in Democratic circles. For example, she walked onstage in the White House when Barack Obama was president.</p><p></p><p>McBride's winning came as no surprise. She won in a district known as a Democratic stronghold. In 2016, then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton captured nearly 70 percent of the vote in Delaware.</p><p></p><p>The campaign of Steve Washington, McBride's Republican rival, never got off the ground. "With Delaware still facing the Covid crisis, it is time to get to work and invest in policies that will make a difference to working families," McBride tweeted.</p></blockquote><p></p>
