I've had many gay friends in my life...I can't think of any that ever asked to babysit. Most of them don't want anything to do with kids. It doesn't fit their lifestyle.

I knew a gay couple that adopted. They got a little girl. The one person I knew from that relationship was someone from my work. A colleague.

We had an interesting work interaction once, a different point of view on a couple of cases of giardia. After things calmed and settle down, he came and thanked me for my objective response to these cases.
