NYC is especially a shit hole of sky high prices because the Democrat controlled city council routinely conspires to suppress competition in retail and grocery businesses. That is why it is dominated by small convenience stores called "bodegas" which charge 3-4 times the prices.

Oh, but at least the city blocked all the big box retailers this making customers pay sky high prices. All in the name of "protecting local businesses" but only the ones who give huge cash "donations" to corrupt local democrats.
