This package has been sitting outside my house for days now. Why? Because we are black. And yes, I’ll explain.
UPS mistakenly delivered this package to the wrong house. The address on the package is for a house just a block over, so we are waiting for UPS to pick up the package and deliver it to the right house.
“But Sean, why wouldn’t you be a decent person and just take the package to your neighbor? Or better yet, you have teenage sons. Send one of them. That’s the perk of having teenagers — free menial labor.”
The answer is because we’re black. And it’s extremely unsafe to send our boys to the home of any family that we don’t know in this predominantly white neighborhood.
Why? Because there is a realistic chance that one of my neighbors will see my boy as a threat and call the police or even pull a gun on him.
And if you think I’m being ridiculous or paranoid, Google “Brennan Walker,” a 14 yo black boy who earlier this month, missed the bus and tried to walk to school. He got lost and approached a house to ask for directions. The owners of this home were convinced that this 14 yo BOY had come to kill them (in broad daylight), causing the husband to pull out his gun and open fire on the fleeing BOY.
THAT is why this fucking package will be sitting on my porch until UPS retrieves it. Because I can’t trust that my white neighbors won’t see me, a Harvard-educated lawyer (or my 14 yo honor student son) as a roaming homicidal maniac.
THIS is what it’s like to be black in “post-racial” America.

I remember these pro-black poms that were raped and murdered while visiting the black location.

During apartheid the blacks were relegated to “locations” in the very outer suburbs. They were given land but were designated a Black Chief to dictate the terms of ownership. This usually involved a percentage of the cattle you owned. They had curfew too because when they got on the piss they would run amok and either rob, rape or murder. But I digress:

The poms from the UK caught a taxi into one of the locations and were telling the blacks that they were basically rooting for their freedom and their cause: a new Sourh Africa. The blacks beat, raped and murdered the women. The bloke was beaten and stabbed in the kidneys and made to watch. I can’t remember if he survived the ordeal.

I literally have a black neighbor who has gotten my fed ex packages and brought them to me at least 4 times.

Often enough where if my package gets marked delivered and it hasnt been.....its either showing up the next day or I can check with him.

Also no one claims racism doesnt exist. It's just not so common that anyone should run a whole campaign on it, call the country AmeriKKKa, or turn every single unpleasant experience had by a black person into an example of racism.

I read an article written by some black woman who was trying to explain her "daily" run ins with racism by describing a trip to the grocery store with her kids and being treated rudely by some rando Karen. An experience my white ass has had many times with rando Karen's as a young single mom. This woman just assumed it was because she was black that this woman was a dick. Most of the time assholes are just simply assholes. Most of us have had this experience .. ... but today we are not allow to have shared experiences like this because when it happens to a black mom, its "racism" and worth discussing and we cannot be on equal ground because of some concept of racial "priviledge". If you cannot see how intentionally toxic, divisive and otherising that is, you have to be blind.

You know what IS racist? Saying voter ID laws are racist because black people cannot meet basic requirements. Or saying that police were formed because of slavery to catch run away slaves, so they shouldnt exist today. Or saying that black girl shouldnt have been saved by police.

Infantizing and exploiting black people for political power and to smear opposition is racist.

You complain about the elite and then you echo their campaigns to visciously divide the country using class and race. These narratives are designed to assist destabilizing the country. They dont exist to solve a single problem. They exist to cause problems.
