I've been hearing reports that Ticomajor is attacking me....

...over electricity.

Weird, no?

I run my household and my vehicles with the expectation that power will go out... because we get fierce windstorms in my region and occasionally have weeks of no power (and sometimes water, mobile phone coverage, et cetera at the same time). So, I plan for it.

We're able to indefinitely refrigerate food, have water for consumption and cleaning, have LED lighting around the property and enough solar panels, Lithium and AGM batteries, inverters, generators, and petrol to keep that up.

We simply don't need a mains power connection. We have it only because it's convenient and less work to do tasks.... but we can pivot when needed.

I always assumed that Seaboobs was a former electrical contractor which is extremely amusing to me since an electrician (which I'm not) would instantly realize the implications of running three semi independent power situations (well, we have a fourth tucked away in steel crates for never never times).

So ask me any question about any scenario, and I'll respond to it the best I can. Obviously, I can't see most of the old Tico Toad's comments here, so put context into it otherwise I may not bother.

We do not have a good backup plan, but I wish we did.

We have a portable generator and some extension cords so we could run the fridge and freezer and some fans in the summer....or maybe a heater in the winter.

It runs on both propane and gasoline. We have only ever run it on propane because I do not want it to smell like gasoline (we take it on camping trips and I do not want the smell in the car).

All that said, I am not in an area where the power goes out very often and when it does, it is usually only for an hour or two.

If you had a good series of backups, Seaboobs would attack you for being poor. Lulz

Even if I were poor, it would be preferable to being stupid.

Each of our vehicles have an EMP shielding device, full kit, food, heirloom seeds, purifying tech with gasket/filter backups, water tanks, fuel, clothing and various required things I won't mention.

We spent tens of thousands setting it up and knowing how to adapt.... yet we're supposedly poor... lulz

Hiya Slopey! You all settled in for New Years? All snuggled in your jammies on the couch with New Years Rockin Eve on the TV and Diego bringing you mulled wine and scrumptious finger snacks?
One thing for sure, I won’t be freezing in some frozen ally.

Yes I was, in addition to living in the third world for 27 years. You live beyond the power grid capabilities. It’s a no brainer and virtually all electricity is governed by math. Your shack is too far removed from dependable electrical service. Funny you don’t use some sort of generator. My suggestion is to move closer to a reliable power source . 12/24 volts is OK for cars, boats and small airplanes.

I heard via the bush telegraph that the old lobotomized tapioca pudding eating surf chimp is having a proper melty over this thread and it's delicious. :Awesome:

But you spend your days reading the retards here? :OhGawd:

I pop in here occasionally in-between watching classic movies and reading news. Message boards are like the warm lemon water served in some restaurants after a meal for finger cleansing. It's a pointless ritual yet mildly amusing.

You "pop in here occasionally" like admin pops in cocks on a 100-hobo-cock-day.

It's all good if you live out here like the rest of these morons, but if you wallow in the mud with pigs, don't get mad when you get dirty.
