Since September of last year, I've moved... 3 times. Fuck. And each time, the town I move to gets shittier and shittier.

Tempe, where I lived for 20 years. Fucking loved that town. Couldn't afford to live there anymore.

Took a stab at Fergus Falls, Minnesota. That didn't pan out.

So back to Arizona, but Holbrook, dying-ass nostalgia-tourism dependent town on Route 66.

Then I get an offer: $500/mo for a 950 square foot 3 bedroom house... but in Ackley, Iowa. Midwest again, but this time not even Minnesowwwweduh-dontchyaknoh. And there's fucking nothing here. Even deader than Holbrook was.

One restaurant in the whole fucking town, a "Pizza Ranch." As if there's majestic herds of undomesticated pizzas thundering across the prairie and shit. One grocery store, which is in the process of closing down. What's left is a Dollar General and a convenience store that doubles as a pizzaria called Casey's General Store.

I've been here about a week and I already fucking hate this town. The only reason I'll stay is that where else in the whole fucking country can a guy get a house for $500/mo except Fucking Nowheretown.

What kind of work do you do? New Mexico is nice and can work in a Indian Casino or around the Reno Nevada area - - - - - - -
Burney Ca is a great place but not much work and can live in a dumpster for free- - - - - -

I'm a freelance writer. I can do the work that I do any place that has an internet connection. Challenge factor is that I have to be able to actually afford the cost of living there. But I'll tell ya, I miss living in an actual city. Y'know, with... people, and... city.

I prefer the city too, the countryside is beautiful but for me best viewed from my car window as I’m driving to another city with the windows up against the muck spreading , if I’m out of the city too long I get withdrawals for traffic and tower blocks...

God help me, but I want to live out my days in Mission, Kansas, a tiny burg of the Kansas City area with a nice bar and a great bbq joint.
