From the Jew perspective it makes perfect strategic sense to destroy all that military equipment to render it unusable to the Jihadis who just won the Syrian civil war. This is because there is a very high probability that the Jihadis would use that military hardware against Israel.

Personally, I hope the disparate groups that just won that civil war will be able to work together to create a viable, functioning country. However; based upon the last thousand years of Muslim behavior, I doubt that will happen.
