Organic farming leads to misery and starvation in Sri Lanka.

Now,, Sri Lanka has no end of problems from corruption, state run monopolies, terrible finances, and the linger effects of decades of civil war. Foreign debt (mostly to communist China and now Russia) are also major issues. That said, the current round of economic collapse and starvation has been greatly made worse by leftist anti-science magical think wrt organic farming. Now, people are going to pay for it with their lives.

It is a long read but well worth it.

A great piece by Shellenberger on how trying to push green policies about organic farming and ESG caused Sri Lanka to collapse.

Not because organic farming is wrong. Because they fucked it up. Righty hatred always supplants simple logic.

Also, let's not forget the roles played by Covid, the massive loss of tourist dollars, and the rising price of synthetic fertilizer. It's called a perfect storm.

I see you are already resorting to the same old no true Scotsman/They just didn't do it right horse shit. The inescapable truth which you are desperately avoiding is there is not enough animal manure or mulch in the world for everyone to go organic. Not without food production dropping to early 19th century output levels.

You guys always ignore reality. You ignorant green extremists want to eliminate livestock and force people to eat bugs so where does the animal manure for organic come from?

Organic agriculture is proposed as a promising approach to achieving sustainable food systems, but its feasibility is also contested. We use a food systems model that addresses agronomic characteristics of organic agriculture to analyze the role that organic agriculture could play in sustainable food systems. Here we show that a 100% conversion to organic agriculture needs more land than conventional agriculture but reduces N-surplus and pesticide use. However, in combination with reductions of food wastage and food-competing feed from arable land, with correspondingly reduced production and consumption of animal products, land use under organic agriculture remains below the reference scenario. Other indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions also improve, but adequate nitrogen supply is challenging. Besides focusing on production, sustainable food systems need to address waste, crop–grass–livestock interdependencies and human consumption. None of the corresponding strategies needs full implementation and their combined partial implementation delivers a more sustainable food future.

The WEF and others pushed for Sri Lanka to go 100% organic all in one year. So, yes, it really was an all or nothing. We have your example right there.

Also, with the global fertilizer and pesticide shortages we are going to see global famine starting in the 3th quarter of this year, continuing into 2023, and we don't have a chance to stop it until the 2024 crop is brought in. So we shall all have the joy of seeing crappy and inefficient organic agricultural causing hundreds of millions to starve.

I am sure you will still come up with excuses though as watching evidence is not your strong point.

except farming isn’t as predictable as you would like to think and this was their first attempt with imported soil

The kind of drastic change they were going for can't be accomplished in one year.

No need to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

The WEF got the EU to pass radical and dramatic cuts to nitrogen levels in soil (ignoring that farmers already reduced nitrogen levels by 35% since 1970 in The Netherlands) and plans to nationalize farms which can't meet the goal. Trudump in Canada is now enacting similar cuts in fertilizer usage in Canada which will have the exact same results as every where else.

It is like the evil pieces of shit in the WEF want to cause a world famine.

Try reliable sources for explication of these new rules, rather than "We Cater to the Low IQ Crowd" Breitbart.

EU adopts new rules on fertilisers
The EU is adopting new rules for placing fertilising products on the EU market. The Council today adopted a regulation which harmonises the requirements for fertilisers produced from phosphate minerals and from organic or secondary raw materials in the EU, opening up new possibilities for their production and marketing on a large scale. The regulation sets harmonised limits for a range of contaminants, such as cadmium, contained in mineral fertilisers.
These new rules will ensure that only fertilisers that meet high quality and safety EU-wide requirements and standards can be sold freely across the EU. The contaminants in EU phosphate fertilising products, such as cadmium, can potentially pose a risk to human, animal or plant health, to safety or to the environment and for this reason, the content of such contaminants was limited according to the new rules. The new rules will boost the production and use of phosphate fertilizers with low cadmium content and of organic fertilisers and will provide a greater choice to farmers oriented towards a more environment-friendly agriculture.

I do watch and read many sources both left and right. The reality is this is real, it is being pushed heavily by the Davos crowd who pays for tons of studies (often one sided and designed to push a certain agenda), and does involve many world leaders. Many of their positions are rather extremist but you can read them yourself on the WEF website.

Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Ghana, Mozambique, the list of countries that fell for the ap-eco-lypse is getting bigger.

Canada is pushing this as well. During a global food crisis they are literally trying to make crop yields go down and they also wish to cull livestock. Yes, the WEF is behind the whole everyone should eat bugs for the environment and never meat thing.

You can bet the meals served at Davos where the Billionaires and heads of state dine during the conference isn't bugs. You know they are eating steaks, lobster, lobster, caviar. Bugs are only for the little people according to them.

Is this push to rely less upon synthetic fertilizers related to reducing greenhouse gasses and addressing climate change?

Just as oil is capable of producing fantastic productivity yet destructive byproducts, there must be a downside to being overly dependent upon fertilizers as well.
