Walking away or putting distance between your pups and yourself is sometimes the only way to preserve inner and outer peace...for all parties involved.My pup is still in a hospital bed with major brain damage and half his body paralysed after nearly a year. I don't visit him every weekend now because he's lost the concept of time. I was doing it because I thought that was what a good parent did, no matter how agitated and distressed it made him get....I've seen the same thing with my 90+ year old grandmother over the last 10 years....she suffers severe dementia and my phone calls make her condition worse for her doctor hubby.
