Economic refugees are not usually "the best." They are usually the most shit upon.
If you want fewer immigrants, demand changes to the world's economic structure. Help make it easier for people all over the world to make a living in their native countries. That is the ONLY solution.

If people want to come here and live and work....they have always been welcome. We could hire people that are citizens or in the process of becoming citizens.
When they come illegally and are being taken advantage of working in shit rough conditions and for shit pay.....that's a problem. And then they dont want to have to pay fairly.....they want that cheap labor. This is a real problem.
And then trafficking is also a big problem. Do you know trafficking is such a bad problem that they find dead little children in the desert? That as a health care worker I've had to go to seminars specifically about how to identify trafficking?(labor trafficking....sex trafficking).
Do you know traffickers put CHIPS in their victims that mark them like we put in our pets?
