...in which case, just how safe are cars of any makes if they are essentially giant computers?




...could this mbe a common occurence in the future where 'modern' cars are compromised by such threats?

I don't believe they have paid but they certainly got hacked and the group is attempting to blackmail them. Apparently tly, this group is so advanced that it is believed to be a state owned actor. Who has a constant interest in attacking South Korean companies and who we know runs these sort of hacking groups? North Korea would be my first guess.

I don't buy Hyundai or Kia as I find they are flimsy and do not last. These days I only buy Toyota or Honda vehies.
