Kinda happening here in Canada too, Dovey. The police and governments found a nice cash cow for themselves by fining motorists excessive amounts for every violation they can find. I got nailed for going 10 mph over the speed limit in a park/school zone. 3 points Then I got nailed for using a cellphone. 4 points. All accumulated in less than a year. Plus they don't forgive those points for 5 years so after 8 years of a stellar record that effectively ended my commercial driving career. And those weren't even dangerous infractions, but they wouldn't give me a break. They used to dock 3 points every birthday but they don't anymore. From their standpoint, why bother if it's just a huge moneymaker for them? I just decided that driving for a living was no longer worth it cuz it would continue to jack up my insurance premiums. So I got out because there's no incentive to drive for a living anymore. Plus the revenues keep going down with the introduction of new players into the market like Uber. Oh well, no money for the guv. I'm certainly not gonna fill their coffers anymore.
