If you were given $120,000 Canadian/$90,000 US what kind of car(s) would you buy?

I'm often reminded of Lex @The Prowler 's purchase of his Corvette Musclecar in which he claimed to have spent or was listed for $118-120,000 Canadian or approx $90,000 US dollars.

But it brings up the question, could a car buyer do better than that?

I'm inclined to believe they could.

Say by purchasing 2 vintage cars 1 new or almost new one.

However this is only personal opinion but if anyone here was actually given $90,000 US under the condition that it had to be spent only for the purchase of automobiles, what kind (s) would you buy?

And ther other condition is you must spend the entire budget. Not a penny left over after all the purchases are made/spent

Or would you buy a single car and blow all of your budget on that?

Depending on your state, you can get those things road-licensed. That's obviously easier to do outside of major metropolitan areas. But they're incredibly easy to drive and, depending on configuration, every bit as comfortable as a conventional car while remaining every bit as utilitarian as a traditional pickup truck.

We would probably only use it on our property. Thinking we would be clearing some forest and doing shit like that....

It might be overkill...a smaller side-by-side might be more practical for how much use it would get....but we have to do research.

I posted this thread part facetiously but in seriousness as well.

I thought it's a reminder of how one might spend their car dollars wisely than profligately.

Here's what a person could buy for $120,000 Canadian or $90,000 US Lex @The Prowler:

1958 Ford Thunderbird currently asking $28,000

a 1965 Ford Mustang asking $35,000

So that leaves about $50-55,000.

A brand new 2025 Toyota Prius

....and there you go.

3 cars for $120,000 Canadian or $90000 US

...and possibly $5-10,000 extra spendin' money left over.

What you get are 2 vintage cars in excellent condition which can be insured with Collector plates for $300 per year.

These can be used as rentals for movie or advertising props netting the owner extra passive income too.

And the last car being hybrid electric gets you a tax deduction plus a green car favorable insurance rate and 60 mpg.

Unlike your gas guzzler which would have premium insurance added and gets 10 (maybe 8?) mpg.

So no Green Car rating tax deduction for the musclecar.

Plus the two vintage cars potentially may be worth more in 10 years than your musclecar.

So, that's getting the best of all worlds. 2 Investment cars and 1 fuel efficient modern hybrid.

Potentially the 2 vintage cars could be sold for more than you paid PLUS all the passive income made from them through car rentals to the movie or advertising industry.

I'll post other configurations if you like Lex.

By the way, I can afford to buy all 3 cars above PLUS your musclecar if I wanted Prowler.

But I've got better things to spend my money on, not depreciating assets.

I'd still pop for the Polaris, if I could afford it. With severely limited vision in one eye, my depth-perception wouldn't allow for an unduly large vehicle. And in a town as small as the one I live in, a larger vehicle wouldn't be cost-effective to operate and maintain for the extremely short distances I'd be driving it.

Still, unlike the Phoenix metro area, the Mogollon Rim presents all four seasons in full measure, so rain/snow mean that a bike isn't always practical.

I have gotten over 26 mpg in my 2023 C8 Corvette with the Z51 Performance Package on the highway.

The Corvette earns EPA fuel economy ratings of 15 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

By Modern standards, That's still not very good Lex.

Contrast this to a Prius:

57 miles per gallon (mpg) combined city and highway for the LE trim, and 52 mpg combined for the XLE and Limited trims
