We have created some of our own problems. No government, Dem or GOP, has gone after employers for hiring illegal labor. No jobs, no illegals. Doesn't even cost money to deport, they'd leave and stop coming. But that makes too much sense, so we won't do it.

The lure of jobs has traditionally driven illegal immigration, but over the decades it's become clear that the biggest incentives are all the free stuff the illegal criminals get from we Americans. Housing, health care, education for their brats, eBT cards and WIC baby formula, Obama phones - which reminds me of "birthright" citizenship so every pregnant inferior third world Juanita or Shen Li can come here and drop a kid (at taxpayer expense) and get a benefits ticket. Then they get to invite granny, cousin Pablo and the entire rest of their shithole village because they're all related. It's called "chain migration" and Democrats started it a long time ago.

My solution is simple (and so is Trump's): Every single person in this country illegally needs to be deported. Every single one. I don't care if they've been here for decades. They can come back, but they have to stand in line and do it legally.

In which case, why not offer these migrants limited legal status with 1 year renewable non immigrant work visas but make them pay more to access public health and education services? It could bring billions more into government coffers.

so if they want to send their children to American schools, they pay extra and those fees would subsidize the American education system? same with the Healthcare too. Make them pay extra to subsidize the US health system.

that's what foreign students in the US do already. They pay International or out of state fees at 3x the rate which of course helps subsidize the education system. And they should because the greatest benefits should go to American citizens.

I agree that the US and Canada should end citizenship by birthright @Reggie_Essent because it is being abused. The UK and Australia already did.
