For your speed, 10 Hz would be plenty fast.

It is decent for a desktop, causal gaming or people who don't care about FPS above 60 HZ

I guess I'm trying prove a point that we don't have top rely upon those engines to create art.

Sit farther away from the display, obviously. Which is fine if you're talking about a Home Theater PC scenario. If we're talking about gaming or productivity, though, you want to keep the pixel density high so that text is crisp and details are sharp.

Look at your setup (desk, keyboard placement, etc.). Determine what viewing distance (3) will work best for your setup (closer will result in a smaller, less expensive screen requirement, but it has to work for your individual workspace). Get a screen size (1) that meets your FOV requirements for that distance. Ensure that your monitor will have a high enough resolution (2) to show images clearly, given (3) and (1).

I think you are assuming that everyone sits at the desk at the same distance to the screen as you.

There is no reason to talk about pixel density. It is dependent on the size and native resolution of a display.

Talk about FOV wants, size, resolution, and viewing distance. That will determine a user's ideal setup.


Senile @Joe, you will be fine with a monitor with a refresh rate of 60Hz. But you will have a hard time selling it at a profit in the Used Monitor Market.
