Will 2025 mark the End of PC's as we've known them?

I doubt that will happen in your lifetime....not for gaming machines.

Faster processing makes more heat which requires more cooling which can be done economically with....SPACE.

The cost/benefit will never be there...in other words, for them to make a gaming machine that small, it would cost a lot...and when a competitor makes one just as powerful, but 10 times the size...and it is 1/4 the price...people will buy it.

That's probably right

Screens, mouse and keyboard will be hard to replace

VR still has a long way to go and many people can't stand it

Not for the games I play; that said, it is compatible with them.

Then I'd suggest getting a laptop instead of the Minisforum V3...just so you would have a convenient option of taking it with you....but you do you.

I am totally with you on having a full size keyboard and a mouse...and a bigger monitor too. I have never gone so far as to buy a docking station....I just plug the monitor and a USB hub (with mouse and keyboard) into any laptop that I have had...sometimes an Ethernet cable too...to get the "desktop experience".

I don't trust laptops; the logic board/assorted other internals being right underneath a keyboard with all its openings means that if anything spills, you don't lose your keyboard -- you lose your whole computer. The V3 is a tablet with attachable keyboard. Much more comfortable with that.

I missed that the first 651 times you said it.

Thanks for telling me.
Well, since you were interested & wanted ta know, I was on the verge of buying a Panasonic S5IIx camera on a boxing day sale for about $3,000 or $2200 US @The Prowler.

But I balked/held off cuz I read that Panasonic, Canon, Nikon & other camera manufacturers are ready to launch a a whole new generation of cameras quite superior to their current generation, eh? Instead of 4k, the new standard on their newer models will be 6k, 8k or higher.

No sense in spending all this money on a 'New' camera only to find out it's obsolete a month later & what's comin out is twice as good, eh?

Anyways, I heard that these camera makers are set to release plans of their new models at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show in a few days.

De donde me da la gana.
You know what a computer is, a desktop. It has a CPU, which is the part that does the computing

IF you want that machine to also be able to play the best games, you need something like this, a video card

nmwEdjK.jpeg

But now they're putting what's inside those video cards inside the CPU, so you gonna need a lot less space you can truly have an amazing machine that plays games at great detail inside something the size of a walkman
Thanks for the info and for being a normal person and not a shithead. :)

The games BF members mentioned that they were playing are games that mainly came out during the time of Christ so I don't think they should worry about having to upgrade their PC.

Any A tier games are going to be on PC and console anyway so it's best to buy a console if you like an all in one game machine.

Many game studios have been boughten up by big, soulless corporations and put out shit that bombs, the small indie developers are the ones making the best games.

Just saw a video with leaked specs and price on the NVIDIA 5000 series and they look very far from impressive

Even more expensive than the last generation with very few improvements and in some cases, it might be even worse than the last generations in some aspects

Rasterization is being put aside so ray tracing, the newer technology, has more space

Ray tracing sure looks better than raster, but the huge majority of games don't support it yet

So it's possible that in the future you get more FPS if you keep RT on, unlike today

Anyway. I see zero needs for an upgrade

The last thing I feel I need to get is a 4k monitor, I've been waiting because the ones with more than 100 hz are still pretty expensive and not every game benefits from larger resolution

But my GPU sure is overkill for 1080p

Until all the major game engine support it, it will be a waste of money.

You gotta get at the very least 120 Hz.

But if you are used to 144, then you can not really go back.

This is kinda why I laugh under my breath at people like @Aylana who suggest a console is the way to go. They just have no idea....

I'm kinda interested in gaming from a developer's or graphic artists standpoint @The Prowler

It would appear that most developers & digital artists use Unreal Engine as their platform. Unity is mentioned but it doesn't appear to be as popular. I noticed a lot of high end software have Unreal Engine ' bridges' which allow the digital artist to export buildings or other 3D shapes into it.

At least from a graphic artists standpoint I think they need powerful PCs with a lotta horsepower RAM & expensive GPUs ta get their work done.

So at least for them the traditional PC isn't dying out ...yet.

Not sure about the end user or gamer tho.

Really good, I think I could go for a 27" replacement, bigger than that is a waste for me

Gaming has gone a helluva long way in terms of graphics, some new games are pretty much indistinguishable from reality

And those devs are really lucky most people have decent hardware these days, they don't optimize their games to use less resources as they used to

Nice.

I have a big one...this is it:

I like the size when I want to bring up two or more documents at the same time....things like that. Like I might bring up two pages of guitar tabs and also have a third document where I am taking notes...all while learning the song on my guitar.

But I would say that for gaming a 27" is perfect. That is the size of my last gaming monitor...a Viewsonic which I loved. My wife is using it on her desktop computer now. When I retire my current gaming system, I plan to set it up with that monitor again to have a second gaming machine.

Some of the games that would fit on a 5.25" floppy for my Atari 130XE were remarkable.

Developers are sloppy now. Fuckin' memory leaks too....do not get me started.

Yeah, more than 27 you have started moving your head around to see things in your screen LOL. That's fine for multitasking but for gaming, not really

To be honest I get a lot less problems running games these days

Hardware is a lot better and more stable than what it used to be
