I suspect that it might be a power play to get rid of Hamas once and for all, which will lead to the anti-Hamas clans to gain control of Gaza. To continue to fight the Israelis would just lead to disaster.

They will continue to fight the Israelis. The Israelis have taught them that they will continue the onslaught regardless of negotiations and agreements.

And that is our fault. We've never left them on their own.
