Washington — President Trump canceled a planned signing ceremony on Wednesday for a landmark housing affordability bill that passed Congress by wide bipartisan margins, saying he will not sign the legislation into law.

, during an event at the Capitol. The measure, the most comprehensive housing legislation in decades, aims to increase housing supply and bring down costs, including by limiting institutional investors from purchasing certain single-family homes.

Under the Constitution, a bill that has passed both chambers of Congress and has been presented to the president automatically becomes law if he doesn't sign or veto it within 10 days, excluding Sundays, as long as lawmakers are in session.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the U.S. and Iran pauses active hostilities, reopens the Strait of Hormuz to free shipping, and paves the way for negotiations. However, the exact cost to taxpayers depends heavily on unresolved diplomatic terms and ongoing economic impacts:

/\ Holliday likes Public Housing.

He is from New Jersey, after all.
Well, this isn't about public housing though, is it, Ragtard?
What I will agree really needs to be done is to give a stiff middle finger up to all of the foreign property hoarders and fucking flippers who are limiting available properties and raising prices.
Hey - don't be mad at me, Ragnar. Be mad at those people and the government for not telling them to fuck off.

As I understand it, the Bill appropriates billions to build pre-planned slums - er, I mean "Affordable (Public) Housing" for indigents, illegal alien criminals and all Admin.'s Hobo pals.

Yeah, flippers are dicks and corporate cumstains who buy up properties do contribute to the housing shortage and affordability issue. This is why we need to deport moar illegal alien criminals who also drive up the price of housing. But you Leftist filth don't want all the illegals deported because they voate Democrat.

But you Leftist filth
. Dude, I hope you have your nitro pills handy but as you aught to know I've been an advocate of strict border control and immigration reduction since ooooooh, 1979 or so, but your buddy Trump loves illegal labor so much he won't even take sensible action like creation of a robust guest worker program, and of course capitulated to the business community taking a hands off approach to the 3 major industries employing illegals. I have some sad and sobering news for you, Ragtardo, it isn't "leftists" (whatever they are) who want cheap labor...it yer captains of industry and unscrupulous business men, aka conservatives, who want them here.

OK, calm down, Holli. You're gonna have a stroke with your TDS mania. This thread is about affordable housing, not cheap illegal labor. My valid point is that if ALL of the illegal alien criminals were deported, housing would become more affordable as units are freed up from the illegals inhabiting them now.

It's a supply and demand thingie.

But you are on the side of the America-Hating Leftist Filth (Democrats) who demand that all the illegal foreign nationals remain here.

Can't square that circle, man.

Oh, my appologies, was it I who brought it into the discussion?

Oh look !
. It wasn't.
I brought the illegal criminals you want to stay here into the discussion because the issue of housing affordability is directly related to the lack of housing units because of these millions of foreigners here (that you want to remain).

Remove millions of illegal alien criminals and all the places they live now will come on the market causing a housing unit glut that will lead to more affordability.

Simple and easy peasy.

But you support Democrat Scum who do.

It's that circle/square thingie again.
.I do? Do you just pay no attention at all to what people's actual positions/views are and apply to them whatever slanders are convenient to you?
. Do you really not know what the anti-LibiConism I have preached for decades is all about?
It certainly isn't the mindless lemming-like MAGAism you spout.
Certainly when I refer to Democrats as the other conservatives I'm not praising them for what they have become.

WAKE UP, RAGTARD !

The man has done literally ZERO to help the idiots who voted for him. It's stunning howc stuoid Americans are.

Is there no one in your rl that’d listen to to ramble on about TrumpF? or is it that you don’t want people in rl to know just what a TDS infected retard you really are ?

Fucking flippers and rich investors are driving up prices here in PT as well. They should all be shot. Housing has doubled here in 5 years. DOUBLED.

Ditto. I'm looking for a small place now (so I won't have to continue living next to these peasants).
...but a handful of years ago (prior to Covid) I could have bought a place move-in ready, too large, with 5, 6 acres around etc for like 70K.
Now that same place would be 3X that. It's fucking criminal.

The thing I want to know is, if the tech assholes continue eliminating jobs, where are all these house flippers and AirBnB investors going to get their customers? Fucking idiots are destroying their custoimer base in their drive to have more money than they can ever spend.

I think one of the most shameful episodes of land hoarding in America is by one of your own citizens @Holliday 3000 .

Larry Ellison owns almost the entire island of Lanai while many Native Hawaiians in that state are homeless and destitute.

With all his money he should build a museum on Lanai to help preserve Native Hawaiian culture.

Lanai should be seized, and sold back to the people

The wealthy in America could do a lot more to help their fellow Americans but instead choose to hoard all the wealth and land therby impoverishing millions of Americans.

The whole myth of the US National Debt is to place the burden on the backs of Americans. it's a crock of BS that the US can't pay down the debt. Trump gave them a $3 trillion tax break & implemented unfair tax laws to enrich himself and the oligatchs. The billionaire class is turning the USA into an Oligarchy like Putin's Russia.

These people are all completely disgusting. And I agree. Lanai should be seized and returned.

The biggest farce pushed by the media & the wealthy class who control them is that America can't afford to service or pay down its national debt.

The solution seems rather simple @LotusBud . since Trump gave away $3 trillion of your nation's wealth to the billionaires, just overturn the Big Beautiful Bill & use the money to service the National Debt. either people in America are so dumb or they're just afraid to speak up and state the obvious. like duhhh.

That Big Beautiful Bill of Trump's was just robbing the future of most Americans and stashing the money into the pockets of the ultra rich which is essentially stealing. Trump is turning America into a kleptocracy for the Oligarchs.

Seems to me like what he wants is for the votes of living, legally-eligible, American citizen voters to not be outweighed by the votes of people who are not those things.

Which, of course, you don't want.

You may as well just say that, because everyone can see that's what you mean.

In most countries a leader like Trump would immediately be forced out power for starting that illegal war in Iran @Holliday 3000

Plus the shitbag has used the War to manipulate the stock market and enrich himself.

I doth think America actually needs Nuremberg style trials to prosecute that pedophile Trump and his cronies for stealing from the US public purse

Your President Trump is a crook Holliday

So many stupid Americans, unfortunately. So many.

The other farce is thay AI boom @LotusBud

Oligarchs like Elon Musk 'lament' how AI will decimate the workforce and displace workers.

But then he & other tech billionaires including Jeff Bezos do nothing to offer alternative ways for average Americans to earn a living to offset the onslaught of AI. instead they just enrich themselves , receive massive tax breaks while firing thousands of workers. They become even richer while average Americans be ome increasingly poorer

Other than the redistribution of land, every working American should receive $10,000 starter investment accounts so they can share in the prosperity AI is supposed to generate.

What you need is fairer more equitable distribution of wealth in America , Reggie.
Who says what is "fair and equitable?" You who whines like the child because someone else has more coins in their pockets?

Envy does nothing for you Joe except to make you bitter.
