The U.S. Interior Department on Friday canceled a rule meant to protect plants and animals that are determined to be threatened with extinction, the latest step by President Donald Trump's administration to dismantle of the landmark at the behest of industry.
Instead of receiving automatic protections, will need individualized protection plans once they are added to the threatened species list. That's a potentially lengthy process in which companies could seek exemptions for oil and gas drilling, mining and other development where those species live.
...and let's not forget this is part of an ongoing assault of environmental protections at the behest of big business/corporations.
I love it when contards try to say they care about these issues. They clearly don't, and that has always mystified me since they often live in the rural areas most affected and are often directly dependent on the land and waters. Well, just another case of them being too stupid to vote in their own interest, but hey, as long as we are a white xtian nation, and no woman ever has an abortion it's cool.
As soon as the second Trump administration took office in January 2025, we witnessed an immediate and unprecedented attack on our environment and public health. This includes a rollback of crucial environmental safeguards, the repeal of bedrock environmental and health laws, the delay of critical protections for endangered species, and attacks on well-established science and scientists.
