Ive been involved in sailing since I was a teenager. I knew a man in Sausalito who had an Alden Motor Sailor. He loved to sail, but needed some help out on the bay. As many know, it can be windy as fuck, especially in the summer time. This started my addiction. First boat was a 16’ Hobie Cat. Second boat was 23’ Oday. Third boat was a Westsail 32. A heavy cruising boat. Misa, my latest craft is a Gulf 32. Before I bought her in 2017, I made a list of all of the things I wanted in a sailboat. Full keel, a second indoor helm. Comfortable sleeping quarters for only 2. I’ve replaced all running and standing rigging. New life lines, exterior cockpit wind curtains. 2 types of self steering mechanisms. Anchors and chain. Replaced all through hull valves and fittings. New bottom paint in may, and and a complete engine tune up. All new windows and port lights. She sails and tracks like a champ in rough seas. Yes it’s cost a bundle. A boat is a hole in the water to huck money into. I don’t care. She is a joy to sail in rough seas. Misa is as safe as she can be. All quests must wear life jackets and tethers. This is what I do.
