Here is what always happens. One of you will claim Trump is just full of lies.

So one of us will ask exactly what he lies about.

And we will hear some completely fabricated claim, or some manipulation of something he said (like how you guys all claimed he called all Mexicans rapists or how he called white supremacists "good people") and we will correct that claim with fact and provide the source.

And instead of being an adult with all this empathy like your side of politics likes to believe they have and saying "oh shit! I was wrong!", instead you guys resort to name calling and cussing and accusations.

Thats why the TDS thing exists. The lot of you are completely incapable of having conversations and simply just believe your political stances are superior and should be forced on everyone. Verbal abuse, gaslighting and violence is how the liberal left does things and most people dont even have the energy or will to bother anymore.

Abstract​

A hallmark of the Trump presidency was a stream of false statements, many of which were repeated dozens or even hundreds of times. But whether (and to what extent) this repetition translates into public misperceptions remains an open question. We address this question by leveraging the most comprehensive data on Trump’s repetition of misleading claims during his presidency. In a national survey asking Americans to evaluate the truth of claims from this database, we find a clear partisan asymmetry. An increase in the number of repetitions of a falsehood corresponded with increased belief among Republicans but decreased belief among Democrats. We also find an important moderating role of media consumption. The effects of repetition were larger when people consumed more right-leaning cable news and when falsehoods were mostly repeated on Twitter. We discuss implications of these findings for misinformation research.

One of the hallmarks of Donald Trump’s presidency was a consistent stream of false statements: by the end of his term, he had made approximately 30,573 false claims (Washington Post Fact Checker 2020). Whether he built “the greatest economy in the history of the world” or instituted “the largest tax cuts and reforms in American history,” these falsehoods were repeated dozens or even hundreds of times. Though Trump was not the only distributor of false claims, there is little doubt that he played a critical role in raising widespread concern about the prevalence of misinformation in American democracy (Porter and Wood 2019).

Yet it remains an open question whether repetitions of falsehoods by political elites can meaningfully impact public opinion. On the one hand, a long history of psychological research suggests that repetition increases belief. Dozens of experiments have demonstrated that people are more likely to believe statements when they have heard them before, regardless of their actual truth (see Dechêne et al. 2010; Unkelbach et al. 2019 for reviews). This “illusory truth effect” occurs even for statements that are implausible (Fazio, Rand, and Pennycook 2019), that contradict people’s existing knowledge (Fazio et al. 2015; Fazio 2020), or that conflict with people’s political ideology (Pennycook, Cannon, and Rand 2018). In fact, a recent experiment demonstrated that reading falsehoods from Trump multiple times increased belief for both Republicans and Democrats (Murray et al. 2020). Further, the effect compounds with multiple repetitions (Hassan and Barber 2021; Fazio, Pillai, and Patel 2022). Studies exploiting natural experiments also suggest that belief in political rumors is influenced by naturally occurring repetition of the claim in people’s everyday lives (Greenhill and Oppenheim 2017; Kim and Kim 2019). These findings are also in line with foundational accounts of public opinion formation, which highlight the role of elite influence in political discourse (Zaller 1992).

. She's a complete idjit who knows so little about politics she will claim the USA is a republic and not a democracy, but for some strange reason, as many times as she's been asked to educate us, can't explain why a republic and a democracy are mutually exclusive systems in government.

Er, but we are not a direct democracy, we are a representative republic with our representatives being democratically elected. I'm not quite understanding your issue here, Holliday. I've not had any difficulties understanding anything Doves writes.

The United States is a Democratic Republic / Representative Democracy.

The United States is a Republic. I have explained this and gave up because i got sick of trying to make retards understand a simple fact.

At this point id like to universal suffrage abolished because Franky people who dont understand or CANT understand what kind of country the US is shouldnt be allowed to vote.
