A Chandler police officer with 19 years of service died Monday from COVID-19 complications, according to the department.

Tyler Britt passed away "after a protracted battle with Covid-19," the Chandler Police Department wrote in a tweet. He is survived by his wife and son.

"Officer Britt loved being a police officer and cared dearly about the community he served," the department send in a statement. "Please take a moment to remember Tyler and keep his family in your thoughts and prayers."

The trouble with dying this way is, it is indiscriminate. It is such a waste that all that knowledge he and others like him accumulate over a working lifetime is snuffed out in moments when someone like a serial killer walks free.
