A Family Friend recently passed away due to COVID

....the News hit us all like a punch in the throat.

He was in his early 50s & left behind a wife and 3 children.

I was told he was in a coma for over 2 months, didn't come out of it & the Doctor advised the family that he be taken off of life support.

Apparently one of his lungs collapsed and his heart had basically stopped functioning.

So Naysayers in this forum...do not take this illness lightly. It is lethal.

It is NOT the seasonal flu nor the common cold.

You can die or at very least be disabled for life.

Now he is no longer.

This happened in less than 2 months from the time he entered the hospital.

So jus wanted to update you.

Mainly as a reminder not to take this virus or the illnesses it may cause, lightly.

His wife made a living selling makeup for Avon.
But she's sidelined after she got COVID as well.

The family is devastated because with the loss of the parents' meagre incomes, they have 3 children in their household, one of them younger than 10.

Unfortunately, hospitals only get bonus cash if they say it is covid. They don't get the pay day of bonus cash payments if it is the flu. It simply defies logic that flu is down 90%+ but covid is surging as the vectors are identical. So it is very fair to suspect a financial conflict of interests is at play here.

I'm not sure why many here perceive COVID as a political disease - that somehow if you wear that RED MAGA hat, it makes you more invincible or less vulnerable against the disease than someone who identifies with BLM or ANTIFA.

Likewise, Cancer can strike people of any age whether they are young, old, Black, White, Asian, Brown, American Indian...and on all 5 or 6 continents.

COVID is just a disease which doesn't recognize any of these artifical social boundaries us humans impose on ourselves or others.

OK, I guess we can empirically test that hypothesis by comparing influenza shots administered in the US during 2019 vs 2020. Any idea where to find the data?

Well. we just heard my wife's ex-husband has covid and is apparently not doing well. I've never met the guy, I know he and my wife got divorced because he was a serial cheater and my wife came home from her law office early one night and found him fucking the nanny. Supposedly, he has largely been an absentee father to the two boys though he always paid his child support (until this last year) and his extended family was reportedly always nice to the boys. The older boy knows his dad even if he only saw him a few times per year while the younger boy only knows him from pictures and the odd once or twice a year phone call.

Its hard to feel bad for the bastard though I don't want anyone to die and I mostly am just concerned how it would effect my two stepsons. I know the older one is quite concerned.
