@LotusBud ...we all know that the term Satan means “to oppose”, but do you know why, in the modern world, it was applied to Science?
Straight forward question, if you give a damn of course...

No, because I have never heard the term "Satan" applied to science. Satan the being stands in opposition to god. I'm sure plenty of religious nuts think science is in opposition to god as well.

You are completely wrong about my saying "unless Satan is money and power" being grammatically incorrect. Look up the definition of "grammar" and then the difinition of "metaphor" and then be man enough to admit it when you are wrong, wrong, wrong.
Lotus... I was an A-stream student in English baby. I also am bilingual in Afrikaans (Dutch variant) and know the gist of what’s being said in several other languages including Portuguese and Spanish.

You are draining out any comedy that was intended in the first place. I realise that you understand some theology, so you’re right in assuming that “nutters” as such deem science or scientists themselves to be hypocritical and thus satanic.

Well done!
:heyFU:

Oh, so you were just kidding about my "grammar" error? See, seeing as how you aren't funny that often, I just didn't realize.

Kind of like you never, ever get it when I'm being funny.

Sure - this is all about forest management.
Why isn't Putin doing a better job managing the Boreal forests?

...and why didn't Trump do a better job of managing California's Federal lands?

President Trump has sought to highlight forest management rather than climate change as the key factor explaining the wildfires burning across California, Oregon and Washington states.
When asked during a visit to California about the role of climate change, Mr Trump said: "I think this is more of a [forest] management situation."
Firstly, most forest in California, Oregon and Washington isn't the responsibility of the state authorities - in fact, their share of forest land is small.
In California state, the federal government owns nearly 58% of the 33 million acres of forest,

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, and increased amounts cause heating. In this case, the human increment is not small.

Satan the Devil means, manslayer and liar.

And since believers in God, know he is the originator of science in the first place why would you think believers don't believe in science itself?

The planet itself along with the universe is a gobsmacking wonderment. Nothing humans came up with by themselves that's for sure.

God put trees on the earth for a reason and since the 1800 our forests GLOBALLY have been reduced down to 15%. That is 85% gone for good.

We cannot reduce the trees (major carbon sinks) down to 15% and expect that not to affect the planet.

No amount of bs renewables or electric cars are going to fix us because we keep removing the carbon sinks unhindered. I've explored the subject for 17 years and on our current course of deforestization, we are finished.... not if but when ....and IF you believe in climate change in the first place... I am going to start calling it, "climate correction." I'd explain more but I hate pecking away at a pop-up key board... It takes forever to write a post.

You know the scientific method itself as well as every major advancement was formed and pioneered by theists?

That being said ....of course there are fringe cults who oppose all things science as "worldly".

I appreciate satan being equated with greed, et....all things in opposition to the character of God.

Climate change has been accumulating slowly but relentlessly for decades. The changes might sound small when you hear about them –

, another centimeter of sea level rise – but seemingly small changes can have big effects on the world around us, especially regionally.

The problem is that while effects are small at any time, they are in the same direction of warming, and they accumulate. Those effects have now accumulated to the point where their influence is contributing to damaging

that can’t be ignored.

Before the first industries began burning large amounts of fossil fuels in the 1800s, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was estimated at around 280 parts per million of volume. In 1958, when

began measuring atmospheric concentrations at

, that level was 310 parts per million. Today, those values have climbed to about 415 parts per million, a 48% increase.

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, and increased amounts cause heating. In this case, the human increment is not small.

It takes forever to write a post.

...and when you say God, you mean the Aliens, right?
..and of course, yes - trees sequester tons upon tons of CO2 (then emit Oxygen)
.which is the reason I have said
that if I were King of the US, the one sure military action I would take
would be to invade Brasil (maybe even annex it) and eliminate all the illegal loggers, slash and burn farming etc.

. Bolsonaro would be toast on day one.

Bolsonaro should be assassinated. He is a first class moron. Indonesia and Australia are as culpable as Brazil of destroying forrests.

Well done!
:heyFU:

You know the scientific method itself as well as every major advancement was formed and pioneered by theists?

That being said ....of course there are fringe cults who oppose all things science as "worldly".

I appreciate satan being equated with greed, et....all things in opposition to the character of God.
The Judea and the Catholic Church weren’t fringe cults though.
I have a good understanding of most religions because up until I was 16 years old , I was quite religious. Pedodos, greed, cruelty and many other atrocities of humankind destroyed my faith completely.

I don’t agree that the majority of scientists, inventors, artists, industrialists etc of their time were necessarily religious at all. But rather a necessary facade maintained to prevent them being labelled as heretical, and ultimately drawn and quartered or burned at the stake.

There is no God or Satan or an Anti-Christ or what have you...merely good and evil as dictated by the times.

Most science persons believe in God... Most science people deny it. All the main discoverers like Newton, and Einstein believed in God and so did Darwin.

It was good for business. A similar scenario with most politicians. One required every vote. Without the religious backing of fanatics, it would be an immediate two steps back.
