Covid-19 - The People I Know

So this past week I went on a small camping trip with a group of retired people from my city. This is a group that has been around for about 30 years and I was just introduced to them.

Most of these people are quite a bit older than my wife and me (I am 54 and my wife is 49). The person who introduced us to the group is 74 and his wife is a few years younger. There were several people in their 80's, and none under 65 other than my wife and me.

So old folks.

Someone mentioned to me "Just to let you know, so-and-so isn't vaccinated because he's against the vaccines." I avoided the subject up until that point, but once it was mentioned, I told them that I am not vaccinated either. I asked people if they knew many people who got seriously ill with Covid-19. Being such an old group, I expected that they would all know a number of people who got very sick and some who would have actually died. They knew very few actual people who got very sick. Nobody knew anyone who actually died from Covid-19.

Personally, I don't know anyone who died from or with Covid-19. I heard about a person in the building where my in-laws live who died with Covid-19; apparently he was a sick man and was expected to die within the next few years (he was fighting cancer I think). I know a few people who were sick with Covid-19, but not sick enough to be hospitalized.

Do any of you people here know people who died "with Covid"?

If they are undiagnosed, she wouldn't know. At nearly 60, most people have little things going on. Not enough to affect them greatly in normal times, but which could play into a viral infection.

Don't blame it on the 20 somethings, blame it on the dead people who clearly didn't follow mandates when they contracted the virus from the 20 somethings.

How old were the people who died? Were they sickly before getting the 'vid?

I live in Florida which is supposedly the epi-center of the current crisis and I don't know a single person who has died of COVID.

And I have literally thousands of friends and associates.

But you're from a state that follows all the communist mandates and you know three people who died and admin's attention whoring aunty is stuck coughing up thumbtacks for the remainder of her life.

I actually know several elderly people, several of whom had a serious comorbidity or two, that contracted COVID and pulled through just fine. THey were in and out of the hospital in less than 3 days from the entry into the ER to signing out of the ICU.

Yes.

Right when this started, a coworker of mine....a 67 year old veteran nurse, passed away from Covid.

She had heart issues and had been feeling odd.... her fever shot way up quickly and she died within an hour of her diagnosis.

Other than that, I know a few people who have lost a family member and a handful who have been hospitalized....mind you, hospitalized just for a few days of Oxygen support. I know no one who went on a vent. But my husband works at the hospital and there have been vented patients there with Covid.

It's real and it is dangerous if you get a severe case, but the majority of cases are not severe. It's being used as a political weapon so that's really causing a lot of problems.

I had it myself and it was awful for a few days....I had a mild case.
