The Klan from the Reconstruction period were the good guys. They stood up to the tyranny that befell the South. But some Northerners donned some masks, killed some kneegrows, and tried to make it look like the Klan done it. So, the Klan was asked to be disbanded, and they did. The Klan that formed decades later, was the racist bunch.

What people dont know, is there was lynchings of white and blacks back then. Not just blacks. It was a different time period.

You do know, the North despised the kneegrows more than the South right? Slavery was illegal in those states, because the truth is they didnt want the kneegrow in their neighborhood! Its why the Underground Railroad kept going to Canada for fuck sake!

I don't think you can quantify who despised black slaves more. That's sort of a futile pursuit. The ultimate point is, clearly the South had legal slavery for longer and it was more far reaching than it ever was in the North. You can't argue that fact. I have never claimed, and do not believe, that the North was blameless in this. Not at all. I am fully aware that plenty of people in the North profited off slavery, and that plenty of Northerners turned in runaway slaves, etc.

But, like I said before, you in the South are the ones all butthurt about the confederate flag and the statues and are making a civil case out of it. If you white Southerners who adore the Confederacy so much were more willing to own your and your ancestors' mistakes and dialog with blacks who are hurt by the flags and the statues, maybe this could be resolved amicably. But now, you're acting like haters who do not care about black perspectives.

And being treated "like family" doesn't make owning another human being okay.
