All schools should provide is a basic and age appropriate health class that goes from k to 12th where facts about the body are taught.
All this other shit? That doesnt belong in any classrooms.
I think if they're gonna teach sex education, it should be when the student is older.
But sex education itself should change - adding a legal/social responsibility component to inform students about what they can be found liable for as well.
This is something that was never taught before.
However given the number of men/women boys and girls who get into trouble these days later in life over their sexual misconduct it's be a good idea so at least they're aware of their reponsibilities and limitatins once they become adults.
Joe people who commit sex offenses didnt commit them because they were not taught better. Or because they didnt know better.
We learn about this as part of basic respect of others in how we are taught to treat our friends and family. Keep your hands to yourself. Dont touch or grab, hig or kiss without consent. No one has a right to touch you without consent....et.
Everyone (outside of mentally incapable) who commits a sex offense of any level KNOWS what they did was wrong. People are not stupid. As long is someone is competent they understand right and wrong.
We do have sex ed. It is taught in grade 7 and 8. It covers puberty, STIs, pregnancy and protection/contraception
I wish we had an ongoing health class that has age appropriate health lessons about the body that each grade is required to take alongside math, English and such. Age appropriate. And evidence based with no politcs. There is all kinds of information that should be taught that would benefit kids. Teach them about MORE than simply sex/puberty. Obesity is a problem. So is drug use.
During my recovery program, myself and two others went and spoke at a middle school about drug addiction. This should really be included in a health class.
What we shouldnt do or allow is exposing children 5 through 9 to adult sexual topics like orientation, gender, sex acts. There is a ton of material about our health and our bodies that would be way more beneficial that is way more appropriate for where children this are in their life.
They wouldnt understand these topics. It's like skipping over basic math and going right to Algebra 2. And its politcal and we dont need that bullshit in school.
It creates an environment where grooming can thrive and children can be manipulated and abused.
Have you seen these teachers on tik tok? Some of the shit they are laying on 1st graders and even pre schoolers?
