So this summer my Squish will turn 6. And our kindergarten home school will become 1st grade.

And Squish is already reading at a first grade level so we have already been breezing through some first grade material.

But with her turning 6......I have to "register" her as a home schooler with the fucking STATE. And they have to "approve" of my curriculum. I have already purchased a curriculum. It was not cheap.

So basically i have to tell the state of Michigan that I'm teaching my own child and including a biblical world view so they can "register" her and "approve" the curriculum.

On one hand I fully understand that there are abusers who just neglect their children and use home schooling as an excuse for their neglect. They just dont provide any sort of education. Like that Turpin situation.

But on the other I do not trust the state, and resent even having to remind them we exist. The state is making horrible and despicable choices for children in schools these days and they should be asking for MY approval. Not the other fucking way around. My husband and mother and myself did talk about flat out not bothering to register her at all as a form of protest. But ultimately we are just going to do it. Her curriculum is accredited and solid. Maybe they could tax refund us since we are not using the public facilities.

And my 16 year old (Gee Gee) is back to having really bad school anxiety and begging me to let her go back to remote learning full time or just purchasing the 10th grade curriculum through the same place I bought Squishies. How can I send my daughter somewhere she hates so much? She hates public school and the ONLY time she struggles in school is when she has to go spend everyday there.

We chose the BJU Press curriculum and I'm pretty excited about it but I want to supplement the American and world history and use more literature.

My oldest is done this year and graduating. She did awesome in school.. .but she also hates public and is glad we are not even sending Squish.

I was gonna take it one year at a time and see how it went but at this point I do not see myself sending my kids to public. Especailly with the politics/sex shit and the fact it's legal in my state for teachers to just straight up give porn to kids as long as its "educational".

Maybe try it out. Children need to acquire social skills.

But if it's bad then put her into home schooling.

But if she likes public schooling maybe that's where she belongs.

however, there is one thing that is a major problem these days which didn't affect previous generaitons of KIDS - COVID.

So there is a case for home schooling or at very least a mix.

And the Pandemic could well come roaring back when the next winter hits.

Maybe try it out. Children need to acquire social skills.

But if it's bad then put her into home schooling.

But if she likes public schooling maybe that's where she belongs.

however, there is one thing that is a major problem these days which didn't affect previous generaitons of KIDS - COVID.

So there is a case for home schooling or at very least a mix.

And the Pandemic could well come roaring back when the next winter hits.

Nah we did really good this year.

Shes around little kids often. Friends here in our area, her cousins she sees every week and in her martail arts class.

Shes actually learning better socail skills then she would sitting in a classroom.

Believe me its garbage that kids need public school for socail kills. Kids are not taught healthy socail skills in public. It's a stressful experience for most of them.

Shes been able to have good friendships and learn boundaries and empathy much better this way :) and she has really good confidence.

We did the public school thing and it sucked.

Seems you got options now.

You got online/in class options, right?

So the child doesn't have to be in school all the time, but they can also be in class 'online', right? Maybe 1/2-1/2?

I can see with things like Pandemics now, that parents need the online option.

Know someone who works as a speech therapist locally here, and she got COVID, probably from a student as her work involves a lot of one on one instruction/interaction.

Seems you got options now.

You got online/in class options, right?

So the child doesn't have to be in school all the time, but they can also be in class 'online', right? Maybe 1/2-1/2?

One of the things I liked about that curriculum is that not all of it involves looking at a screen.

Some things can be online. My 16 year old will finish this year doing it online. Squish won't be doing any online classes through the state at all.

Squish is already ahead of the game.

I never caught COVID during the entire Pandemic, but I was really careful.

Can't help but think it was designed as a bioweapon which was meant to spread in close contact with others like it did.

Even the supposed source which came out of a cave wasn't much older than that, and yet it wasn't related to the covid strain which devoured the world.

Viruses that lethal have usu been brewing/incubating for some time before they spread like that.

Well they were taking it from the bats and "researching" it. That Gain of Function shit.

They got it to mutate where it could jump to humans.
