Agreed. I live in a blatantly socialist country (as opposed to the semi-socialist and not proud of it US), and throughout the entire pandemic, there was never a shortage of anything, EXCEPT things imported from other countries, because of the supply chain issues. But Portugal is very good about seeking to make the country self-sufficient, so the shortages were never of things needed to live. No toilet paper or baby formula or food or gas shortages at all. Only some imported building materials were delayed.
