The notion that these are the top mathematicians in The USA is laughable.
The top mathematicians are working to solve mathematical problems that have not yet been solved, not learning to do well in math contests.
Some of these guys might develop into great mathematicians. But some of them will never achieve anything past understanding and reapplying solutions that were first developed by someone else.
