Anyone else comparing air conditioners for a third-floor Boston apartment?

I live on the third floor of an older walk-up in Boston, and the window units I've had for the last few summers are finally giving out. My bedroom gets direct sun most of the afternoon, so the room holds heat well into the evening, and the windows are the tall sash kind, which limits what actually fits without blocking the whole opening.

I'm trying to figure out whether to go with a standard window unit or one of the newer inverter-style models that are supposed to run quieter and use less power. My concern is noise, since the bedroom is small and the current unit cycles on and off loud enough to wake me up. I'm also unsure whether the extra cost for an inverter unit is worth it in a place I only cool for maybe three months a year.

I've been looking at some general info online about 2026 models but don't have a clear picture yet. If you've dealt with a similar setup, what worked for you?
