Guess again.

btw you're the only one going to play this guessing game.

One thing I've learned from being online forums and social media for a couple of decades is that when someone says "this is true but I won't name the person or place involved" they're full of shit.

You @Jack, are full of shit.

And really, fucking stupid.

Being that I live in the EU and all my money is in the US but all my expenses are here, the conversion rate is something that has a big effect. The US dollar is close to an all time low against the Euro going back more than 10 years.
I saw these videos on YouTube that the US government wants to discourage American citizens from leaving & is trying impose new taxes on ex-pats. Knowing Senor Trump, he wants a cut from these 'un-American' types. Make em pay 'exit fees'. I suppose if he makes the ones who live within its borders suffer, he'll try to do it outside them as well.

Are a lot of Americans leaving the USA these days? Seems more than usual want to get out @wizer.

Yes droves of Americans are leaving the US just like I did, because of the beautiful scenery, temperate climates, healthy food and lower cost of living.

Are you living under a rock not to know this?

Far from yup!
Yet another reason that the idea of moving out of the US is enticing more and more people. Even though the conversion rate is unfavorable the cost of living overall is so much less, as is the purchase of real estate.

Oh totally. We've even thought about putting up our house for sale to move to Italy or Greece. We have the resources to purchase a 1 euro house in Italy and fix it up. It's just the logistics.

The average Greek lives on about 1000 euros per month and that includes feeding a family and paying rent. So Expats living off of passive retirement several times that amount (even after conversion) can do quite well. Especially if they owned a home prior to the move that they sold and used the proceed to purchase a residence inside of most countries in the EU.

I read that about other places too. Mexico, the right parts, like ex-pat havens where they are a community. Though I would much rather live in Italy or Greece or France.

Oh. I've heard that it's accelerating because there's no freedom under Trump.

Even Right Wing types who normally voted Republican have mentioned this.

We considered a second home in Italy. In one of those places where like you said, they're practically giving them away. But the renovation costs and the risks (will enough people move there to support infrastructure, stores etc) are considerations,. We were there a month ago, after spending a week in Malta, then Sicily, then Tuscany, we decided it's a nice place to visit but we wouldn't want to live there.

Mexico is a bit tricky nowadays. We did some diving in Tulum 3 years ago and considered moving there rather than to Europe. The cartel problem isn't getting better and there are other worrisome issues that are not prevalent in other countries such as Greece.

I haven't been to France yet but the few French I've run into don't impress me much.

Don't believe everything you hear @Jack.

I heard you were Edna on TV and that you weren't the only one on this forum who got scammed out of your money due to being really fucking stupid.

While it's been proven that you are in fact stupid, the rest of the claims are dubious at best.

In Greece they can't put toilet paper down the toilet, they put it in a bin next to the toilet

Greece is one of many countries that do this. Mexico is another. The reason being old plumbing that can't handle it.

I installed one of those sprayers next to each toilet. Other places use bidets.

After a dump I give my ass a good spraying and as a bonus the sprayer is good to hose the shit off the bowl before the flush. The best thing I ever did. No more skid marks or itchy ass.

It took some getting used to though. If the sprayer pressure was too high I'd invariably spray up into my asshole and the accidental enema would cause me to have to shit again a few minutes later but that was mostly just watered down shit splatter.
