God forbid we find ways of getting medical care more affordable and Medicare being better.
This article was written through a framework where private insurance is always bad. No real explanation why its bad.....its just bad.
What gets me is how people who want M4A dont even discuss high medical costs or support anything to lower them. They just want the government to pay it. By government....I mean the tax payer.
Considering how high the costs are that would do a lot of harm and change the quality of care.
The no compromise, all or nothing, our way or you're evil approach is why it's so ironic when lefties yell about how its other parties "destroying democracy".
I havent any of them who even acknowledge anything bad or any problems that arise from something they pushed and wanted.
They arent interested in solving problems. If they were they have a more realistic look on issues. They would admit the flaws in what they want and try to resolve those. We see women and girls being raped and assaulted in female spaces....they even ignore that and call us bigots because we dont ignore it.
These are adults. They wanna run the whole country like spoiled teenagers.
Anything done regarding medical care is going to be trashed and called evil because it's not the universal healthcare they want. Bit if we did get universal healthcare.....none of the problems would even be discussed. It would be rug swept and bringing it up would result in put downs.

Anyone can just write a letter saying they wish to remain on Medicare and not Medicare advantage and that solves any issue. Medicare advantage does provide better coverage for patients even if it does have a slight cost. As Medicare is pretty much insolvent why shouldn't people be encouraged to move to a better plan if they can afford it?

I asked her why shes calling it evil. I didnt call her any names. I wasnt uncivil either. I did share my observations on how these sorts of discussions typically go when M4A people refuse to address any of the flaws or problems caused by their ideas of how our healthcare should go.

Your money is paying for current retirees not for your retirement Healthcare. I would like to see personal accounts which are topped up by a set amount of government contributions then make pricing transparent and let people make logical choices on what to purchase or not. Such a system works well in Singapore.

Yeah I mean, everyone is down to make reasonable improvements to the healthcare systems here. Anything that isnt federalized M4A is shit on as "evil". There is no discussion or compromise at all.
That's across the board. Not just with a few people here.....that's how they all get down and nothing will change for the better because of it. No unity whatsoever.
What we have now isnt perfect but it's better than universal. I'm convinced leftists want us to be these evil enemies they are heroically fighting.

I am unsure why Lettucebutt is so worked up about this. All it did was change an opt in position to an opt out position. I.E. the government wants people to move to a better program with better coverage which has a slight price increase for users but which costs the government less as private insurance picks up more of the costs instead of the government. You can still fill out a simple form and opt out. It is just the assumption that people actually want the better insurance unless they say otherwise.

There are people in Canada who come here to MI so they dont die waiting for dialysis. Especially old people.
People have wait sometimes for two years for a cancer diagnosis. 8 months for mental health. Wait months for an "elective" surgery and end up with more problems.

We are simply talking about two options elderly people on Medicare have and which one is better. Regular Medicare has the so called donate hole in coverage thus why 80% of them opt for supplemental private insurance. Medicare Advantage solves that problem in a very affordable way plus slightly decreases government costs even while improving total coverage. It makes sense to assume most people do want that improved coverage so making Medicare Advantage an opt out I stead of an opt in makes sense.
Universal Healthcare for everyone has absolutely nothing to do with with the two options retirees over 65 have to make between standard Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
