Maybe you would like it that way but it would make Canada poorer because then the US could flick on the on/off switch like he's threatening to do anytime Trump wants. That's what happened to the Canadian Economy in the past when there has been too much dependence on the US.

British Columbia used to have 16-20% unemployment when they were on that America only model and trade with the US was like 90%.

As you may be aware, the share of US-BC trade is now 55% or less. 30% or less would be ideal actually.

I suppose Ontario is like 80-90% with the US? You guys should diversify your trade with Europe and other nations like BC did. You're too dependent on the US for yer own good Prowler.

I suspect there'll be more overtures towards Europe in the coming decade, Lex.

Ie Trade flows, agreements.

Since other nations cant rely upon the US anymore new trade alliances will form. Canada and Europe will get closer & America's influence may become more aligned with Latin America. So USA's influence will go South while Canada will be more aligned with Europe and Asia.
