Fascinating case from a legal perspective. I can't see imprisoning someone for a virtual action, but I don't think these kind of scumbags should be able to be rapists in the virtual world either.

The fact the virtual "crime" or "scene" involved a minor adds another level of WTF.

But the question begs.....why a multiverse? It harkens to Stalenhag's book, The Electric State.

How does one continue viewing or experiencing a virtual attack against them? I'm clueless on the multiverse aspect of it, I imagine they could just exit....but why should they have to?

My thought......extend any reasoning / punishment as to that if a child were depicted in a sex act.....as if it were child porn.

What a fucked up new world we are living in.

As an aside...rapist should be skinned and dipped in salt water......no quarter when it comes to punishment.
