Climate Change and Nepal

Climate change occurring naturally and humans negatively impacting it are not mutually exclusive. I genuinely don’t understand why that distinction is so difficult for some people.

Yes, Earth’s climate has always changed naturally. Congratulations, we’ve established elementary-level Earth science. The issue is that human activity has significantly accelerated the current warming trend. We burn fossil fuels, release massive amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, clear forests that absorb CO2, and add further emissions through agriculture and industry. Greenhouse gases trap heat. We’ve increased their concentration, so more heat is being retained. This really isn’t a complicated concept.

Saying “the climate changed before humans” doesn’t disprove human-caused warming any more than saying forest fires existed before humans proves people can’t start forest fires. Natural causes can exist alongside human causes. The fact that this apparently needs to be explained to adults is honestly more concerning than the argument itself.

Exactly people seem to forget the Industrial Revolution is only 5-6 Generations old, prior to that we weren't burning fossil fuels like it's going out of style and all the rest of the pollutants we emit into the earth and atmosphere.

I grew up in the Willamette Valley, the eden at the end of the Oregon Trail, farmers started growing grass seed when I was a lad. Before the government started controlling it more, the farmers would burn the fields after the seed was harvested in the fall, there were days when the sky would turn black and the smoke filled the valley there were multi car collisions on Interstate 5, hot days would cool off from the blocking of the sun. I point this out as I believe it's a microcosm of the world at large burning fossil fuels etc.

If you stopped breathing and farting, that would really help to combat anthropogenic global climate change. Do your part or sit down and shut up.
