In the car and I'm driving...
I asked him, do you remember if "Main St" exit ramp is closed off of the freeway? (We're heading north)
Answer: Well, if we go to "Park Drive" it'll take you to "Citrus" and then you can turn left and head back down to "Main". The ramp going south is closed.
I turn left to head towards the freeway.
Him: Why'd you make a left, I said that you should take Park to Citrus to Main.
Me: I don't want to hit about 12 lights between here there. I prefer the freeway.
Him: So, why did you ask me which is the best way to get to Main street?
Me: I didn't. What I asked was if the exit ramp at "Main St" is open to traffic off the freeway That is precisely what I asked. (In an exasperated voice)
Him: What are you getting irate about?
Me: If I ask you a question and you give me an alternate answer to a question I didn't ask, then tell me I asked you X when I asked you Y, I get a little irritated. Stop mansplaining and giving me directions of where you want me to go. I am driving and if you don't know the answer just say you don't know.
