In order to do that Canada has to form an economic union with Europe @Blandscape because it can't stand on its own.

Even if it's not a formal union but a series of treaties to bring in massive investment from the wealthier EU members for oil/gas refineries & mining.

Canada has what Europe is low on - natural resources.

However Europe has what Canada is low on - manpower & economies of scale.

Canada can power the EU economic engine.

I think given the alternative of US subjugation or dependence on Russian oil/gas itll be worthwhile for them to invest in Canada. Even tho itll cost Europe a lot of money theyll probably do it to counter US threats.

I disagree, Canada can stand on its own, and will share the same outcomes as all free trade economies do when going to an unnecessary trade war in a globalised environment. Canada will do damage to American interests. Japan has only yesterday entered the fray. Tariffs are not good for the American economy, 1million American jobs rely solely on Japanese investment. How is Trump going to replace those jobs? With more tariffs?

As for Europe, who told you it was resource poor? What resource are you referring to? Trump has to attempt to rob Ukraine of its resources while threatening to invade Greenland and Canada to rob them of there’s. Scotland itself has natural resources that outstrip even Saudis, over a mile down, just out of reach of technology as it earns its worth today.

There is no doubt Canada, part of the British Commonwealth will seek to cast a wider economic net. Unfortunately, that may push Trump into committing even more egregious assaults on common sense.
