Yes and yes. It was a meaningless film.
Worse than meaningless, imo. Very few women directors get attention, and when they do it's for making shit like that?

It seems like the film industry prefers to push their own tastes and likings these days, instead of giving the audience what they want.
No wonder so many movies are flopping terribly these days. Even franchises that were successful and considered to be gold mines in terms of revenue were destroyed.

You're right, it's terrible. The sexuality and darkness was gratuitous. It's weird and disgusting just to be weird and disgusting.
It got more attention than it deserved.
