The girl's mother, just dying to see her daughter marry someone famous, tells the girl's father a lie, that she was pregnant. She wanted to convince him to let them date. She schedules a meeting with the kid and his parents. Everybody together to fix the whole thing.

Girl's father was psycho that looked like a psycho and acted like one before.

At the reunion, he guns down the kid and his parents

You see, the killer is as bad as they come, and of course he is ENTIRELY to blame for gunning down the family for something that is treated almost trivially by society today.
