Johnny Nash died Tuesday in his hometown of Houston. The singer, best known for his hit I Can See Clearly Now, turned 80.
The Texan made his debut in 1957 with the single A Teenager Sings The Blues. The following year he released A Very Special Love, a cover of Doris Day. But Nash scored his biggest hit in 1972, when the song I Can See Clearly Now from his eponymous album hit No. 1 in the US and quite a few other countries. The song has since been released by several other artists, including Lee Towers.
Nash has also worked on the music for quite a few films and television series. He made several forays into the acting world: the musician was seen in the films Take A Giant Step (1959) and Key Witness (1960).
