I feel like you have a heavy bias about GUNS. So when you see these politically filtered reports of gun violence, you receive them in a way that confirms that bias.

Another time I was held up with a gun in California. Another time I was chased by a car full of kids in Los Angeles.

So I been there.

I know what it feels like.

If I lived in a dangerous area like Tijuana, East LA or South Africa I might be inclined to get a gun. But where I live now it's very safe. And the police here keep it that way cuz it's a tourist area where I live. There's literally a policeman on every block here. Cripes I was almost got arrested and handcuffed by 4 burly policemen for trying to kill the car alarm in my own car

There's a Lotta tourists who come to Vancouver and they want them to stay safe. I think the majority of foreign tourists here are Americans. So naturally they want them to keep comin back to spend their tourist dollars here. If they don't feel safe they'll stop coming.

I think there was a guy once stabbing people during fireworks but they caught him. That was over 10 years ago. Again a tourist related issue. They don't want violence to get outta hand here. Otherwise it'll scare away the tourists.

What about women who would literally live in fear of being raped? Because that would be a thing. Women living in fear of violent men is a much more rational thing considering men commit the vast majority of violent crimes against women.

That's your choice. I'm just pointing out that a gun typically isnt "needed" until the moment it IS needed and an attacker is NOT going to pause the attack so you can run and buy the gun now that you need it.

You dont buy insurance AFTER you total your car.

You dont get an EpiPen AFTER you get stung by the bee (because there were not a lot of bees where you live....so even though they could kill you.. you didnt think you needed the EpiPen).

No one "needs" the gun until they DO. And it's very wise to be prepared....because when the moment arrives, it's too late.

I dont live in a high crime area. However I recognize that it only takes one fucked up person to come in here one night and attack my family. And if that happens it's best I'm prepared to defend us.

I would much rather have it and never need it.....then fucking need it and not have it.

Oddly @Blazor 's experiences of being assaulted were similar to mine.

I got attacked, held up and threatened when I was in the US a lot too.

Anyway I survived.

Where I live, the City is Left dominant, but outside that, ALL Right. And violence in the city has been getting worse for the past decade or so, and rocketed the past 2 years.

Cities also usually have more gun restrictions, especially Left ones.
