BREAKING UPDATE: According to Julio Rosas at the Blaze, Vance Luther Boelter, a former member of Minnesota’s Governor’s Workforce Development Board, has been identified as the primary suspect in the June 14, 2025, targeted killings of State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband. Boelter, approximately 57 years old and originally from Gaylord, Minnesota, is believed to have impersonated a police officer using a modified vehicle to carry out a series of coordinated attacks at two residences in Champlin and Brooklyn Park. Law enforcement recovered flyers and manifestos in his vehicle referencing the “No Kings” protest movement, as well as writings condemning what he called “corporate-state fascism,” “legislative traitors,” and “monarchical symbolism” surrounding President Trump’s birthday and the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary parade. These materials suggest a motive rooted in anti-government extremism, with Boelter reportedly expressing anger over both Republican and Democratic lawmakers whom he viewed as complicit in eroding the Constitution.
Police and federal authorities now believe Boelter may have planned the killings to coincide with the nationwide “No Kings” protests, hoping to trigger a wider confrontation with law enforcement. One manifesto reportedly warned of “false kings in suits” and called for “revolution against synthetic authority.” Governor Tim Walz has condemned the attack as a politically motivated assassination. The FBI and U.S. Capitol Police are leading the manhunt, and a shelter-in-place order remains active in Brooklyn Park as tactical teams continue their search.
