When I was poor no one had compassion for me. When I lost jobs, no one cried for me, Argentina. When we were just starting out, we didn't have a pot to piss in, but we made do ourselves. We didn't hold our hands out and demand that others pay for our child care -- we arranged our work schedules so one of us was always home with the kids. We didn't demand that others pay for our kid's lunches. We made them a lunch every day to take to school with them.

Poor is when you don't have a pot to piss in and you scramble and fret and stress and claw for a way forward.
Parasite leech is when you sit on your ass with your hand out expecting others to pay for your shit.
Government programs that hand shit out to people create a class of parasite leeches completely dependent on government for their support.
I almost think sometimes that that was the plan from the beginning with the Great Society Welfare programs.
Did you know that here in Illinois we have families that are entering their 6th generation of Welfare dependence?

My parents depended on public assistance off and on in my childhood, whenever my dad lost jobs.
I have three siblings. None of us has ever been on public assistance. We've paid back everything back into the system that was ever provided us.
I don't have a problem with giving a hand up because of that. Where is the evidence that there are families with 6 generations since the 1960's to begin with, ffs?

I don't have a problem with providing temporary assistance to those truly in need. It's determining that need that is the sticky wicket. Our Welfare systems are also rife with fraud, waste and abuse, as you well know.
AS for the generation welfare thing, I know this because I personally know people who are generational welfare recipients.
