Man, I will miss our weekly talks.

That guy was like a father to me.
Many were wowed by Denny McLean's 31 wins, but many thought Lolich was the better pitcher Lex @The Prowler

As a pitcher it appeared that he singlehandedly saved the World Series for Detroit. Not a small feat considering the team he was up against. Bob Gibson was like a warrior.

I remember Al Kaline was greatly admired as well.

Indeed. Even in that remarkable 31 win season, it was Lolich who won 3 series games to bring the title to Detroit.
. Comparing career stats, it was Lolich who was more consistant over a longer time.

Lolich seemed like the ultimate clutch player who could deliver when needed. I remember another pitcher like that was Bruce Sutter who defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series. He threw a slider like pitch & the powerful Milwaukee hitters couldn't figger him out.
